Spent the day on Mille Lacs chasing perch. Fished six spots and drilled about fifty holes with no success. Heading to my last spot I was losing motivation thinking I had missed out on the bite for the day. As I got to the final spot there was no one around but there had been the last couple of days so there were plenty of holes to fish. After trying a few holes without seeing anything I dropped my jig down the next hole and had multiple marks race up to meet my jig. The first fish I caught was a solid 11 incher. Over the next three hours I managed to get 16 really nice perch to bring home but I had to work really hard for them. I didn't catch more than three fish out of the same hole. You had to keep moving to find the active fish. I was fishing a deep saddle area that topped out around 29 feet. All the fish were caught on a red Forage Minnow by Northland Tackle tipped with a minnow head. Good luck and be safe. ( I drove my truck into a large/deep area of water off one of the side roads - the drift/plow lines had pushed the ice down flooding the road with a couple feet of water - got the heart pumping)
