This was Casey Zeik's first tournament and he caught several nice fish including this 19" smallmouth. There were about 15 boats in the tournament and we won with 20lbs 8oz for five fish. Our two biggest fish including a 5lb 8oz kicker were released before this photo was taken. We had a great night and caught a lot of fish on several different baits. Most of our good fish were caught on or outside the weedline in 14 to 20 feet of water. We caught fish on texas rigs, rock jigs, crank baits and jig worms.

Fished in Denny's Super 30 tournament on Monday and it took over 27 lbs for 8 bass to make the money. We ended up in third place with 29 lbs even and made a nice move up in the team of the year standings. We got all of our fish on jigs and texas rigs in 7 to 14 feet of water. There were three good schools that we got most of our fish from but the 5 lber was a loner on the way in to one of the spots. The fishing is really good right now and should only get better as we head into August.

The bass are starting to load up in their summer locations. The winning weight for 8 fish on Monday, June 21st, in Denny's Super 30 was almost 32 lbs. We were well off the pace with just under 23 lbs but we caught a lot of fish.

This weekend is the Minnesota Fishing Opener. I will be filming panfish action all weekend and I also will be filming some walleye fishing. All action will be filmed in Douglas and Otter Tail Counties. Watch the videos because a double secret spot just may be given away.

Fished from 6am to 11am and caught a lot of crappies on Tonka this morning. Got them on minnows, tubes and marabou jigs. I fished one small bay and had several spots within the bay that turned on at different times. Ended up getting several fish between 10 and 11 inches but couldn't break the 11 inch mark. I stopped in at Fletcher's at 11:15 and the leading crappie at that time was only 12 ounces. It sounds like a 1 pound 2 oz crappie was enough for first place this year. The fishing in general is definitely improving and the next couple of weeks should be really good.
